Back in 2019, I opened a small but perfect little café/takeaway, in Oakham, Rutland, specialising in homemade, wholesome, fresh salad boxes, savoury bites and cakes. I wanted to create some truly special granola recipes to sit alongside the other breakfast options and offer a broader variety of choices. Soon they had quite a following with family, friends and local customers. They would always say, “It’s just so good!”
Having closed the café in 2022 after the difficult years over lockdown, it felt like the perfect outcome from all the hard work and challenges passed, to bring the granolas to market. So I set about building the brand, landing on the name bestowed upon me by my customers and designing a logo with the support of family and friends, recipes unfolded and the rest followed.
Handmade in small batches in our kitchen in rural Rutland, I refuse to compromise on quality of ingredients. Always striving to create really delicious blends, you’ll find on average 35% oats in my recipes, unlike supermarket brands which contain approximately 60%. The emphasis is on the nuts, seeds, spices and fruits. I only use natural ingredients, sustainably sourced and organic when possible, avoiding nasty additives, inflammatory fats such as sunflower oil and soy-bean oil. Refined sugar free, I use natural sweeteners like maple syrup, coconut sugar or honey.
Consumers are well aware of the increasingly dangerous threat to their health caused by the unnecessary plethora of processed foods. As we continue to understand the benefits of a diet that promotes healthy choices and wholesome, nutritious habits, the responsibility upon us as individuals must be supported by the food and drink industry to manufacture products without harmful ingredients.
It’s a privilege to be able to offer Just So Good granolas to you here and I’m excited for you to try them. I’ve created a product I can be proud of and that I am sure will become a staple in your kitchen - making your mornings beautiful, nutritious and delicious.
